The Rocky Mountain Cup is a soccer trophy awarded to the fans of the yearly winner of the rivalry between the Real Salt Lake and Colorado Rapids of Major League Soccer.

The idea for the Cup came from fans in the social media world and fundraisers were set on both sides of the Rockies. There were many ideas about what the award should be for the Rocky Mountain Cup rivalry. In fact, the original idea was to have an old ice climbing ax with the names inscribed on it after each season. This proved too difficult to pull off.

A long hard search for an appropriate Cup that was going to be as grand as the rivalry was to be, began in 2004. The search ended in Glasgow, Scotland in March of 2005 with an original price of just over two thousand dollars. The Silver Cup sits on a base of Mahogany and each year’s winner is engraved on the base of the Cup.

Inscribed on the Rocky Mountain cup is:

"Bring me men to match my mountains,
Bring me men to match my plains,
Men with empires in their purpose,
And new eras in their brains."
